Died
Mary Ludwig Bernritter was born in Germany, Hessen Darmstradt, Dec. 4, 1850. She came to America with her parents at the age of six years and they settled at Erie, Pa. She was married to Golfried Bernritter July 30, 1871. To this union ten children were born and six sons and three daughters survive, who were all present for the funeral. They are: Julius of St. Marys, Mrs. Anna Hutley of Maple Hill, George of Wilson, John of Maple Hill, Mrs. Marie Johnston of Topeka, Frank of Garden Plain, Fred and Herman of St. Marys, and Mrs. Christine Child of Maple Hill. She also leaves 23 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two brothers, Jacob Ludwig of Strong City, and Samuel Ludwig of Cedar Point, who were present for the funeral, and one sister, Mrs. Maggie Bernritter, of Erie, Pa. She came with her husband to Kansas Dec. 11, 1879, and has lived at the same home in Kaw ever since.

On the morning of June 23rd, while going for the mail, she had the misfortune to fall from the step and break her arm. She was taken to the hospital in Topeka where everything was done that loving hands could do for her comfort. Sunday morning she developed pneumonia and gradually grew worse until the end came at 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, June 28.

Her body was laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery beside her husband who died Feb. 2, 1906, and her son, who died Dec. 14, 1889. Funeral services were held June 30, conducted by Rev. Langholtz of the Lutheran church of Wamego. She became a member of the German Lutheran church at an early age and has lived a true Christian life. Her six sons acted as pall bearers. Besides her relatives she leaves a host of loving friends who mourn her loss. Although she has been a sufferer for many years, she was a patient, loving wife, mother and friends and was loved by all who knew her.

Card of Thanks -We wish to express our sincere thanks to the many kind friends who so generously assisted us during the recent illness and death of our beloved mother; and for the comforting songs that were sung and the beautiful floral offerings.
