Served in 26 Texas Cavalry, CSA, as a farrier. Received $50 bounty Dec 3, 1862 paid by W. M. Armstrong Debray;s Cavalry. Enlisted at age 28 on August 28, 1861 as a private Capt John J. Myers' Company Caldwell County Rangers in Lockhart for the war - value of horse $105, equipment $12, Mustered in Sep 18, 1861 in Galveston -- 220 miles to rendezbous. On sick furlough in Lockhart much of the time from December 27, 1861.
