Andrew was born on the King Ranch and was foreman of the Santa Fe section there during the 1919 hurricane (the devastating storm caused the death of approximately 300 people, perhaps as high as 500). Andrew had worked for Corpus Christi Transfer in the days of horse-drawn freight. He was postmaster at Linn, Texas from 1928 to 1943 and worked as Hidalgo County cattle inspector for the Texas tick eradication program from 1930 to 1938. He was employed as a maintenance leadingman at the O&R facility at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station where he retired in 1959. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World Wars I and II. He married Maggie Lee Smith of Memphis, Tenn. in 1917, who survived him. He was also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Maggie Belle Davis and two sons, Walter W. Doughty and Andrew C. Doughty III, all of Corpus Christi. (Corpus Christi Times, Texas. November 02, 1973)
