Jimmy married Rose Fairchild on October 13, 1963. During their 47 years of marriage, Jimmy and Rose raised three children, Suzanne, Juliane and Franklin. He was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years. In his spare time he raised cattle and poultry and enjoyed working in his shop. Jimmy served in the United States Air Force for four years. He served as an alderman for the City of Waldo for two terms. He was a faithful member of College View Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Jimmy and Rose had fought a courageous battle with heart disease for 35 years. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary H. Dodson McDonald.
Survivors are his wife Rose Dodson of Waldo; daughters Suzanne Sutton and husband Richard of North Little Rock, Juliane Parker and husband Robert of Owasso, Oklahoma; son Franklin Dodson of Waldo; brother Billy Paul Dodson and wife Margaret of McNeil; sister Debbie Wilson and husband Larry of Magnolia; step mother Kay Dodson of Magnolia; granddaughter Laura Bailey of North Little Rock; grandsons Tyler Haynie of Bodcaw, Jacob Haynie of Springhill, Andrew and Brock Parker of Owasso, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Brenda Love and husband Mike; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the College View Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Walters officiating and assisted by Bro. Jim Sayers. Burial will follow at the Waldo Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Love, Jonathan Love, Kelley Love, Tyler Haynie, Jacob Haynie, Kelly Blair, Don Sherman, and Robbie McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and Brotherhood of Men at College View Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the College View Baptist Church, 2121 North Washington, Magnolia, AR 71753.
