Charles Grigsby HARRODSBURG - Charles Grigsby, 83, of 147 Castle Heights died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday at his home.

A native of Mercer County on Sept. 12, 1899, he was the son of the late John William and Lillie Lung Grigsby.

He was a retired, postal employee, a veteran of World War I and a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church. He was a life member of American Legion Douglas Laws Post 52 and the Disabled Veterans Chapter 54 and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles L. and John Evans Grigsby. Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Gondon of Louisville, Nancy White of Danville, Grace Logston of Fort Meyers, Fla., Mrs. Elvin 'Dottie) Vaught of Mercer County and Mrs. Russell (Glenn Ellen) Frederick of Fleming County; four sons, Bill C. and Bob Grigsby, both of Harrodsburg, Buddy Grigsby of Bamburg, S.C. and David Grigsby of Cincinnati; three sisters, Beulah Grigsby of Harrodsburg, Margaret Rollings of Louisville and Fannie Nevins of Lawrenceburg; 24 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel conducted by Dr. Robert DeFoor. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites
