Born in Johnson County North Carolina, the youngest son of William Henry and Hulda Woodard Oliver.

He came to Prairie County with his family ca. 1860.

He first married Fannie Guess on Oct. 7, 1880 in Prairie County. they had the following children.
Charles "Charlie" and Albert B. Oliver.

He then married Rebeca J. Linsby on Feb. 5, 1887. He and Rebeca had the following children: James Walter, Edna E Oliver Strickland, infant child, Thomas, Homer, Alma Mae Oliver Ferguson and Dona Ether Oliver Grady.

Brother of:Mary Oliver Johns, Melvina Oliver Ricks, Zilpha Elizabeth Oliver Mason, John Calvin, Sarah "Sallie" L. Oliver Jones Sparks (not the Sarah buried here with the marker), Emily Thetus Oliver Eiland, Naonie Oliver Bell, William Benjamin "Fred", Needham Asa and Henry Clay.

No grave marker has been located for him but since his family is buried her one would believe he would also be here. Small pieces of a marker was located in May 2006 with he letters G.W. Ol which also lends me to feel sure he is here. The pieces were found north of the marker of his grandson George Strickland. Also found in this row are other unmarked graves which I feel are the graves of his daughter Edna and her husband Edward Strickland.
