George H. Benoit, 68, of 808 Fon Clair Street, died at 1:10 yesterday afternoon at his home. He had been ill for the past nine and one-half months. He was born Nov 27, 1894 at Millau, France, son of Neuima and Marie Segui Benoit. In 1903 he emigrated to Montreal, Can., where he resided two years. He then moved to Johnstown, where he had resided since that time. He worked for a number of years as a table cutter. He retired in 1962 after working for 17 years as a deerskin grader. His last place of employment was Menkes Fur Inc., Gloversville. The survivors, in addition to his wife, Mrs. Eleanor F. Benoit, are two sisters, Mrs. Jacob W. Hall of Johnstown and Mrs. Emil Koscher of Gloversville, several nieces and nephews. The Leader-Herald, Gloversville-Johnstown NY, Thursday, January 7, 1965.

The funeral of George H. Benoit was held at 2 this afternoon at the Frederick W. Barter Funeral Home with Rev. Clair E. Carpenter, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Bearers were Duane Hall, George Hall, Paul Svec, Olin Holland, Ronald Wicks, Theodore De Vennes, Harold Christman, and Charles Grahn. Burial was in Fern Dale Cemetery. The Leader-Herald, Gloversville-Johnstown NY, Saturday, January 9, 1965.
