SIMPSONVILLE - Dr. A. M. Anderson of Bryson Heights, died Saturday. Native of Newberry, a son of the late Rev. Edmond Robert and Mrs. Mamie Shaw Anderson, he was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Greenville, where he served as treasurer. He was principal of Bryson Center in Simpsonville and formerly served as principal in the school systems of South Carolina for forty-two years. Dr. Anderson attended the public schools in Greenwood, Anderson and Manning, South Carolina. He received the B.S. degree at Allen University, the M.S. degree from Indiana University, and the Doctor of Letters from Allen University. A former trustee of Allen University, he held membership in the National Education Association, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the South Carolina Education Association, the Greenville County Teachers Association, the Greenville County Council for Community Actions, the Greenville Urban League, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Golden Strip Progressive Organization, the NAACP and was a member-at-large of the South Carolina High School League. He was also a member of the trustee boards of the Greenville County Library, Voorhees College, and the Phillis Wheatley Center. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Anderson and two sons, Alcuin M. Anderson, Jr., and Bruce Edmund Anderson of the home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel AME Church near Owings, with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Bryson Center from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. The body will be placed in the church at noon Tuesday. The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Greenville Urban League, Box 10161, Greenville. - Beasley's Funeral Home, Fountain Inn.
