Faye Fern Garland, 82, of Fort Ashby, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Hampshire Healthcare Center.
Born December 28, 1934 in Springfield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Howard Taylor Adams and Olivia Goldie (Ansel) Adams.

She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Flanagan; three sisters, Evelyn Chaney, Wilma Garland, and Pauline Hott; and, seven brothers, Earl, Elmer, Harold, Donald, Floyd “Jack,” and Willis “Andy” Adams.

Faye married James N. Garland in Cumberland on February 3, 1951. They shared 44 years of marriage before his death on December 24, 1995.

Faye had attended Springfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, listening to gospel and country music, and playing BINGO.


Survivors include her daughter, Kaye Flanagan, Romney; her son, Gary Garland and wife Dorothy, Ridgeley; five grandchildren, Sherri Hott, Christina Smith, Bradley Flanagan, Melinda “Lynn” Long, and James “Mike” Garland; 12 great grandchildren, Josh Long, Matthew Long, Cody Long, Tyler Long, Dalton Garland, Makayla Garland, Justin Combs, Trevor Hott, Trenton Hott, Colten Spaid, Nate Smith, and Lettie Flanagan; a brother, Kenny Adams and wife Maxine, Springfield; and, a sister-in-law, Jackie Adams, Springfield.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 5-8 PM and Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 10-11 AM.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 11 AM in the funeral home, with Rev. Sara Lamb, officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
