Mr. Jack Leonard Jones, age 84, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 5:45 am on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1932 in Pope County, IL to Ray and Ruth (Whiteside) Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. David LeNeave officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jones was the owner of a service station and wrecker service for many years. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.
Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Jones of Metropolis; daughter, Vicki Hoard and husband Jerome of Metropolis; son, Jack Jones and wife LeiAndra of Topeka, KS; 4 grandchildren, Tyler Hoard of Murray, KY, Emily Hoard of Metropolis, IL, Jessica Jones and Garrett Jones of Topeka, KS; two brothers, Jerry Jones and wife Becky of Dixon Springs, IL, and Jean Paul Jones of Anna, IL; many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth (Whiteside) Jones; three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held from noon until the 2pm funeral hour Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
