She was born Jan. 21, 1935, in South Bend, IN, to Milton and Mildred Loeser.
A life-long student who loved learning, she received her bachelor's degree from Goshen College in 1963; her master's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1969; and her doctoral degree from the University of Florida in 1986. Much of her professional life was devoted to education as a public school teacher in Indiana and North Carolina. She remained in contact with legions of former students throughout her life, many describing her as a "life-changing teacher." She later became a licensed clinical psychologist, practicing in Asheville, NC, and northern Florida.
She was married to the late Rev. Hugh C. Edsall, who died in 2013.
She is survived by their six children: Terry Langdon (John) of Indianapolis, IN; Noel McLaughlin (Mike) of Raleigh, NC; Beth Chamberlain (George) of Lookout Mountain, TN; John Todd of St. Joseph, MI; Margaret Krantz (John) of Hanover, IN; and Jim Edsall (Robyn) of Banner Elk, NC; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many special friends, including George Hill of St. Augustine.
