Sp4 Larry Burns Turner was a member of the Army, SP4 Turner served our country until June 22nd, 1967 in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was not married. It was reported that Larry died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. Larry was born on February 4th, 1946 in Oakboro, North Carolina. SP4 Turner is on panel 22E, line 051 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.
He is the son of Brady Burns & Ruth Burleson Turner of Oakboro. His brother is buried beside him as well: Gary Lee Turner
He served with Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, "The Rock", 173rd Airborne Brigade, USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
