Johnnie Woloszyn passed away at Legend at Rivendell on March 18, 2017, at the age of 88. Johnnie is survived by his wife, Nellie; daughter, Debbie Ellis and husband Ken; son, William and wife Shauna; grandchildren, Lucas Ellis, Stephanie Mora and husband Aaron, Titus Ellis and wife Marcie, and Heath Woloszyn; and great grandson Gray.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa (Hopcus) Woloszyn and three sisters, Josephine, Pauline, and Sophie.

Johnnie was born August 29, 1928, on the family farm where he would live for seventy-eight years. He graduated from Luther High School in 1946. In May of 1952 he married Nellie Manek, who has been his sweetheart and helpmate for sixty-four years.

Johnnie early in his adult life learned the craft of furniture upholstery. This skill later translated into work at Wiley Post Airport where he modeled interiors of Aero Commander and then Gulfstream aircraft. He took his retirement in 1992 after thirty years of service. Johnnie would continue with raising black Angus cattle and driving his Farmall “H” tractor for chores on the farm.

Funeral services for Johnnie will be held March 22nd at 1:00PM in building of Southwest Church of Christ, 3031 SW 104th Street, Oklahoma City. Interment will be at 3:30PM in Saint Mary’s Ukrainian Cemetery, 6700 N. Dobbs Road, Harrah.

The Woloszyn family sends their appreciation to the Highlands staff at Legend for the special care and loving kindness shown to Johnnie over the past eight months.

Memorial donations may be sent to Eastern European Mission, P.O. Box 670928, Dallas, TX 75367, for Bibles to be placed into classrooms of Ukraine public schools.
