Sara Patsy Sheppard, age 75, of Hodgenville, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away, Sunday, July 4, 2010, at her residence. She was a lifelong member of Riverview Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN and a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church in Green County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amon Alonzo and Catherine Beatrice Burnette Cowden; two sisters, Judy Thompson and Jeannie Quillen, and two brothers, Kenneth Cowden and Jimmy Cowden. She is survived by her husband, Alvin Carl Sheppard; a daughter, Kathy (Charles) Mays Coffey of Knoxville, TN; a son, Jerry Mays of Knoxville, TN; a brother, Charles (Judy) Cowden of Knoxville, TN, and three grandchildren, Amon Mays, Aaron Mays and C.J. Coffey. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Bro. Mark Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.

Sara first married to Hubert Lester Mays, Jr. in 1953. He was b. 1933 and died 2006 in Tennessee.
