On 18 September 1884, Charles Smith Anderson married Virginia "Jennie" Carruth. They had one son, Charles Carruth Anderson who was born 6 March 1886, shortly after the death of his father. He and his wife and his mother, Virginia Carruth Anderson are buried in Old Washington Cemetery in Washington, Hempstead County.
