Lee Henry Kearns was born on August 24, 1895, in Hillsboro, Ohio to Dennis & Hariett (Estle) Kearns. He married Verna Joan Weston on September 2, 1916, in Dayton, Ohio. They had 6 children between 1921 and 1931. Lee and his brother Oliver owned and ran a candy factory on Wayne Ave in Dayton. Oliver moved on to restaurants and the factory was sold to a woman who was trained by Lee to make the candies. He worked at Elder Beerman until he retired. He coached baseball for years and talked of little else. He died on August 22, 1972, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 76, and was buried in Beavertown Cemetery in Montgomery County, Ohio.
