Claven Thomas Owens of the 3000 block of Holland Road, died Nov. 23, 1991, in a hospital.

Mr. Owens was born in Princess Anne County. He had retired from the lumber department of Kempsville Building Materials. He was a member of Christ Cathedral Church of God in Christ, Portsmouth.

Survivors include his wife, Alice M. Owens; five daughters, Mary A. Lawrence, Frances M. Jones, Dorothy M. Owens and Betty A. Owens, all of Virginia Beach, and Alice M. Turner of Richmond; five sons, Melvin T. Owens Claven Owens Jr., Robert Owens, Amos Owens and Michael Owens, all of Virginia Beach; a sister, Emma Winslow of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Vernon Owens of Virginia Beach and James Britt of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grand-children.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Big Piney Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles A. Vinson. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday in Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel.
