RUTH KING PARRISH
Funeral services for Ruth King Parrish were held Saturday, Feb. 27 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Cummings officiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.
Ruth King Parrish, daughter of Dr. Albert E. King and Lydia Shuff King was born at Blockton, Ia. March 17, 1900 and departed this life February 23, 1988 at Glendale, Ca. at the age of 87 years, 11 months and six days.
She grew to maturity in the Blockton area where she attended the public school and the Methodist Church.
She was graduated from Blockton High School and attended University of Iowa where she graduated with a major in English and she taught school for 10 years in Blockton, Ia. and Cheyenne, Wy.
On June 5, 1930 she was united in marriage to [Cecil] Paul Parrish at Cheyenne, Wy. and they resided in Bedford and rural Gravity, Ia. before moving to California in 1948. To this union two children were born: James and Martha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul Parrish on April 4, 1983; two brothers, Dr. Wayne King and Dr. Cecil King and a sister Alberta who died at the age of two years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: James Parrish and his wife Carrole; and daughter Martha and her husband Lary Ford all of Glendale, Ca.; five grandchildren: Cindy, Susan, David, Tim and Keith; a great grandson Paul; a nephew David King; other relatives and many friends.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church; Bedford Chapter #228 Order of Eastern Star; Daughters of the American Revolution and the U.T.D. Club.
Her concern for family, loved ones and friends will long be remembered by all those who knew and loved her.
