Robert D. Nehrkorn

Robert D. 'Bob' Nehrkorn, age 76, of Pinckneyville, died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at 8:35 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Bob was born March 2, 1927 near Rice, a son of Chris and Clara (Gass) Nehrkorn. He was united in marriage to Mildred R. Margenthaler on February 26, 1947 in Pinckneyville and she survives. Bob worked as a union carpenter and had also been the head custodian for the Pinckneyville Community High School. Bob served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member and also a trustee of the Cross Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood working and raising homing pigeons. Bob also enjoyed family dinners and collecting antique farm equipment.
Survivors include his wife Midlred; one daughter, Donna Hayes and husband Roger of Paducah, Ky.; two sons, Dennis Nehrkorn and wife Patricia and Doug Nehrkorn and wife Susan, all of Pinckneyville; three brothers, George Nehrkorn and wife Melba and Loyd E. 'Gene' Nehrkorn and wife Glenna, all of Pinckneyville and Bill Nehrkorn and wife Jo Ann of Tamaroa; three sisters, Clara Goldman of Tamaroa, Myrtle McElroy and Wanda Miller, both of Pinckneyville; seven grandchildren, Christopher Hayes and wife Stephanie, Jared Hayes and wife Kandi, Sarah, Carolyn, Greg, Dustin and Cassidy Nehrkorn; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Emily Hayes and numerous nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Nehrkorn.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14 at the Roe's Dale Baptist Church in Pinckneyville with Reverend Darrel Molen and Reverend Charles Smith officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home on Monday, October 13 from 5 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society.
