George E. Howland, 90, of Wyalusing, Pa., passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa. George was born at home at Neath, Pa., on May 12, 1926, the son of Harry and Laura Davis Howland. He grew up at Neath and was a graduate of LeRaysville High School. George owned and operated his farm his entire life until retirement. He was a devoted member of the Neath Welsh Congregational Church and served on various committees within his church over the years. George enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, bowling and gardening. He will fondly be remembered by many for his kind personality and his "giggle."

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Grace Preston Howland; daughters, Kay (Mark) Ulrich of Wyalusing, Kim Wheaton of Rome; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Badman of Sweet Valley, Caleb Wheaton of Rome, Brian (Sara) Ulrich of Nazareth, Pa., Lisa (Daniel) Timm of Williamsport, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Badman, Maya Ulrich; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Vieldhouse and Pastor Donn Hauser officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Camptown Cemetery, Camptown, Pa. The family suggests that contributions may be directed to the Neath Welsh Congregational Church in care of Alan Crawn, 9043 Route 467, LeRaysville, PA 18829 or to the H.O.P.S. Ambulance Association, in care of James Seipler Secretary-Treasurer, 606 Ridge Rd., Rome, PA 18837, in George E. Howland's memory.
