OBITUARY

George William Nicalaus [sic] Anschutz, son of George Anschutz and his wife, Marie Affeld, was born March 10, 1900 in Russell county, and brought to holy baptism on June 4, the same year in the Lutheran church at Dubuque, where he was received into holy communion with the Triune God. This he renewed on the day of his confirmation on the 25th day of April 1915 in the same church where he promised to be true and faithful to the Lutheran confession until his death, which promise he also kept until the end.

In the year 1901 he came as a small child together with his parents close to Dorrance, where he remained in his comparatively short course of life. Although he was one of the lucky young men to possess a home of his own, and although he had a home at any time with his brother, Henry and his two sisters, Clara and Lena, and was at all times a welcome guest, nevertheless he never felt completely satisfied unless he could spend most of his time in the house where he had lived his childhood days. He made his steady home with his oldest brother, Ernest, and his wife, who treated him as their son, for which he expressed his gratitude and appreciation even on his death bed.

He died Thursday evening, the 13th of this month. The cause of his death was blood poison from which he suffered only four days. He leaves to mourn two brothers, Ernest and Henry two sisters, Clara and Lena, two aunts Mrs. Amalia Kuhlman and Mrs. Tillie Meyer, both of Denver, Colo. Nephews and three nieces, as well as a number of other relatives and a great number of friends. His age was 28 years, 6 months and 3 days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Lutheran church at Dorrance, conducted by Rev. Wm. J. Lind.
