Eugene moved, from Kansas, with his family to Oregon in 1940, where he completed high school in McMinnville. He then joined the Navy and worked for 2 ½ years as an airplane mechanic. After the war, he worked for two years at Buchanan-Cellers Grain Company. He was married in 1951 to Irene Ann Bernards. Eugene was a member of St. James Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. He was a docent at the Evergreen Aviation Museum.


Irene passed away on March 12, 2017.

He is survived by their four children, Bill of Carlton, Jerry (wife Marcia) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Tom (wife Jan) of McMinnville and Deanna of McMinnville; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
