Clarence H. “Clem” Empfield, 83, of Penn Run, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at St. Andrew’s Village.

A son of the late William and Leta Henry Empfield, he was born Nov. 4, 1933, in Cherryhill Township.

Mr. Empfield was a member of the Brush Valley Chapel and a member of the Indiana F. & A.M. 313 Masonic Lodge. He was employed by Bell Telephone Company for 40 years. Mr. Empfield enjoyed hunting, Farmall tractors, and traveling. He spent many happy hours at county fairs, tractor pulls and auctions. Mr. Empfield loved music and played the guitar and the harmonica.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Gray Empfield; children: Diane Green and husband Randy; Thomas Empfield, Theodore Empfield, Donna Yatsko, Deborah Funk and husband Kenneth; grandchildren: Erica Farmery and husband Evan; Keith Yatsko, Caleb Empfield, Jenny Funk and Joseph Funk; step-grandchildren: Jodie Seybold and husband Anthony and Michael Greene; great grandchildren: Leta and Gabriel Farmery; siblings: Robert Empfield, of Penn Run; Ilene Eaton, of North Carolina; Sandra Kennedy, of Oregon; a special nephew, Fred Eaton and wife Conni and their children, Marissa and Benjamin, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Dale, Lyle and John Empfield.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Robert White officiating. Interment will be in Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery.
