Robert Roy "Bob" Carlon, Sr., died at his home in Paisley on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 81.

He was born to Roy and Lora (Bradley) Carlon in Lakeview on October 9, 1935. Bob grew up in Summer Lake, where he received his grade school education and then attended high school in Paisley.

He and Norma Banister were married in Reno, Nevada on May 6, 1953. Bob started his long career in the trucking business with a job driving for Art Dunn before purchasing his own trucks and contracting the log hauling for Adams Lumber Company. He eventually expanded and added logging to his business and held the contract to do all the logging for Adams. After Adams sold he continued logging and hauling for Fremont Sawmill. In 1980, Bob changed directions and sold his logging equipment to follow his real passion of mining for gold and road construction. Bob was a multi-talented man who could fix just about anything that was broke. He really enjoyed flying his plane, working and his family. In his younger days, he also enjoyed riding his "Harley".

He is survived by wife, Norma of Paisley; daughter and son-in-law, Lora and Greg Mayea of Paisley; daughter, Lana Carlon of Grants Pass; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr and Terri Carlon of Paisley; brother and sister-in-law, Evan and Sue Carlon of Red Bluff; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nephews; and numerous cousins.
