Charles Eugene Havens, 86, of Humansville, Mo. passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at Big Spring Care Center in Humansville, Mo.
Charles was born June 9, 1930 in Altoona, KS to Henery and Kate (Snow) Havens. At a young age, he left home to serve his country in the U.S. Navy.
In 1951, he married the love of his life, Virginia Topete. They would spend their lives travelling for Charles’ work as a contracted aircraft mechanic for the U.S. military.
Charles had many hobbies throughout his life. He was blessed with a green thumb and was an enthusiastic gardener. He enjoyed scouring the deserts of California and Arizona with his metal detector in search of treasure. He enjoyed wood-working and used that as a way to give back to his church. He also custom-made his own bookshelves, which housed his collection of over 2000 books, all of which he had read numerous times. He loved reading westerns, especially those written by Louis L’amour.
Charles was a blessing to those around him and will be dearly missed.
Charles is survived by his two children; Terry and wife Penny of Humansville, Mo., and Sharon Burke of Hume, Mo. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Christopher E. Havens and Caitlin J.(Havens) Duvall, as well as numerous family and extended family members.
Visitation for Charles Havens will take place Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 1-2 PM at ButlerFuneral Home in Humansville, MO. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 15 , 2017 at 2 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Humansville, MO. Graveside services will follow at Humansville Cemetery.
