IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Merle Von Brown, 89, of Idaho Falls, died February 8, 2006, from a stroke, at Life Care Center, to whom the family extends appreciation for the excellent care provided.

He was born January 13, 1917, in Shelton, Idaho, to Franklin Brown and Mary Emma Morgan Brown. He grew up and attended schools in Shelton, Ucon, Ammon and Ririe. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He married Zelda Edith Neville July 13, 1940, in LaBelle, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September 23, 1940. He worked in dry crop farming and cattle ranching all of his life in the Ririe-Shelton areas until 2004, when they moved to Idaho Falls.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in a Bishopric, in scouting, Young Men's organization and Sunday School. He was also a lifetime Lions Club Member and served on the school board. He enjoyed time with his family, golfing, fishing, hunting and wrestling.

He is survived by:

Son: Darrell Von (Gayl) Brown, Ririe, ID,
Daughter: Nona Marie (Dale) Williams, Idaho Falls,
Daughter: Myrna Louise (Roy) Smith, Ririe, ID
Son: Franklin Bruce (Ann) Brown, Mesa, AZ
Daughter: Lori Ann (Brad) Scott, Ririe, ID,
17 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters and a son, James Boyd.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006, at the Ririe LDS Stake Center, 14061 North 130 East, with Bishop Ryan Christensen of the Ammon 9th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, where Military Rites will be performed by the Jefferson and Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Teams.
