Martha Ellen Irwin was born October 2, 1872 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. She grew to womanhood there and was married in December 1891 to Frank S. Hollopeter. They moved to Oregon in 1909 and in 1916 came to Montana and made their home at Seeley Lake. Mrs. Hollopeter had charge of the Rumble Creek post office for nearly ten years.

She passed away in Kalispell on June 8, 1941.

Those surviving are her husband, Frank Hollopeter, at home, and eight children, Royden A. at home, Mrs. Jessamine Ladd of Salem, Oregon, John W. of Seeley Lake, Mrs. Evelyn Taylor of Kalispell, Mrs. Annie Walker of St Ignatius, Mrs. Gertrude Fenby of Swan Lake, Roxy of Seeley Lake, and Frank R. of Trout Lake. There are also fifteen grandchildren and other relatives.
