Bess Young Mercer, 107, of 3362 Heritage Place, Owensboro, KY, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at Heritage Place. She was born on November 12, 1899 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late William and Mary Frances (Moore) Young. She was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years, was church secretary and was president of the Women's Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Mercer, on September 20, 1989, by a granddaughter, Donna F. Jones, on November 10, 2005, by two brothers, Estill Young and Jimmy Young, two sisters, Nellie Mercer and Mary Ambs and by a son-in-law, James R. Jones, on June 19, 1990.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Mary Mercer of Owensboro; a daughter, Marjorie Jones, of Madisonville, KY; a granddaughter, Vicki Bowles and her husband, Donnie, of Madisonville and two great grandchildren, Melissa May and Cameron Bowles.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2007, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens in Owensboro. Visitation is from 1:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. She is forever missed and loved a long life love
