Stanley was born to James & Lillie Mae (Rusell) Bales.
He attended Bonialla Consolidated School through Senior year in 1947, Huron College from 1947 to 1949.
Stanley worked as a Civil Engineering with the City of Huron, SD, 1949-1950.
He was drafted into the United States Army on January 18-1951 and served with the 19th Engineer Combat Group in the Korean War until April of 1952.
After his discharge he returened to Huron working with Harris & Pierce Engineering Co. Then with the City of Huron as a Field Engineer.
Stanely married Avis E. Severance on August 23-1953 in Huron South Dakota.
He then enrolled as a Civil Engineer Student at South Dakota State University where he graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering .
He was the Assisting City Engineer for the City of Huron until 1957, then became the City Engineer of Mitchell, SD until 1959 then he was emplyed witht he City of Omaha as Assistant Sewer Engieer until 1991 when he became the Serwer Engineer then the Design Engineer until 1969.
Stan started working for Elliot & Black in October of 1969 and became partner and worked as a Senior Engineer until his retirement in 1991.
He was coach with a youth baseball and also an official at basketball and football games.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW
