Edward L. Alden, son of Edward and Adelia Alden was born at Vergennes, Vermont, March 30, 1863. After the Civil War he moved with his parents to Viroqua, Wisconsin, living there until after his marriage to Ida May Groesbeck of Sparta, Wisconsin in April 1880. He resided in Sparta until 1906 when he moved to South Dakota. He then came to Kalispell in 1916 where he had since resided. His death occurred July 20, 1935.
Mr. Alden is survived by two sons, Roy E. Alden, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Harold J. Alden, Electric City, Washington; three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. D.E. Hubbell, Tomah, Wisconsin and Mrs. Thankful C. Grote, Kalispell; also four nephews, C.F Grote, Kalispell; G.F. Grote, Blackfoot, H.G. Grote, Spokane; and C.H. Chase, Tomah, Wisconsin.
