Two-year-old ex-Austin boy found dead in California
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. -- Investigators Wednesday found the naked body of Cecil Turner, a 2- year-old boy who moved from Austin to California three weeks ago, in a creek near his Mission Viejo home.
Cecil, who was nicknamed "CT," was thought to have wandered from his new home about 8 a.m. Monday after his stepfather, Feilong Wu, went jogging and left the door ajar, investigators said.
Autopsy results Wednesday were inconclusive and could not determine the cause of death, said Lt. Ron Wilkerson of the Orange County sheriff's department. He said the boy's body had no visible signs of injury, but they are investigating the case as a homicide because of unanswered questions surrounding the child's death.
"Now we just have to wait for the toxicology tests and see what they say," Wilkerson said.
Wu and his wife, Edith Marie, moved to California after he was offered a position as an assistant coach for the Mission Viejo Matadors, a diving team that once trained diving great Greg Louganis.
Before moving to Mission Viejo, Fei Long Wu worked as a volunteer assistant coach to University of Texas diving coach Matt Scoggin.
Cecil's mother said she reported her son missing after her 4-year- old daughter noticed he was gone and woke her.
Wilkerson said there have been no arrests in the case.
