Last Will & Testament of Hans Adam Blanck

"In the name of God, Amen, the Nineteenth day of August in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty-Five, I Adam Blank of Salisbury Township in the County of Northhampton and in the Province of Pennsylvania, yeoman, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, therefore am calling unto mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows, Vis.

It is my will and I do order that the first place all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.

Then I give and bequeath unto Margaret my beloved wife one cow with a white forehead and one cow chain and a bell with a strap to it which the said cow used to carry, for her use for ever and do order that she shall have straw and hay sufficient next winter, after the day and year above written, and no longer for the said cow.

Then I give unto my beloved wife Margaret one hog and my wife shall have liberty to take which she pleases among my three hogs. Then I give to my wife Margaret one acre of buckwheat which is now sowed in the ground and all the Indian corn which is now planted for my use in the ground, and I give to my said wife Margaret the whole bed where I use to lye in it and bedstead the three bedsheets and the little ironpot, one pewter dish, two pewter plates, and two pewter spoons, and all the flax I have in profusion.

Then it is my will and I do order that my son Georg Adam Blank shall deliver to my wife fifteen bushels of corn which shall be half wheat and half rye and further I give to my wife all the wheat and rye I have now at present in profusion. Then I give unto my wife Margaret the sum of forty pounds of good and lawful monies to be raised and levied out of my estate. Vis. ten pounds part thereof of the said forty pounds. On the twenty seventh day of November next after my decease and the residue of the said forty pounds, my said wife shall take in pounds due to me.

Then I give and bequeath the residue of my estate goods and chattels rights and credits whatsoever I have in profusion, monies or other personal estate to my heirs, viz. Christopher George, George Adam, John Blank, and to Anna, Margaret, Catherina and Elizabeth, it is my will that they shall divide the same share and share alike without any dispute or quarrel.

Then I make and ordain my beloved son George Blank and Peter Bager my only and sole executors of this Last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills, legacies executed by me in any way before this time names willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament, whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year first above. Adam Blank.

Signed and sealed, published, pronounced and declared by the said Adam Blank as his Last Will and Testament in the presence of Heinrich Kick, Peter Knapley."

Adam's will was proved October 1, 1765. It is recorded at Easton, in Will Book I, page 1.
