Alliene L. Bennett, 94, passed away February 16, 2017, in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be Friday, February 24, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Johnson County Memorial Gardens Chapel followed by burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, at Johnson County Memorial Gardens Chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Life Unlimited, 320 Armour Road, North Kansas City, MO 64116. Alliene Louisa Gilpin Bennett was born December 29, 1922 to Clarence and Esther (DeWitt) Gilpin in Kansas City, MO. She attended school in Kansas City, MO, and graduated from Manual High School in 1938. Alliene married Dale Howard Bennett on August 29, 1941. She was a classified civilian worker during WWII while working as a secretary to an Army General in San Bernadino, CA. After the war, Alliene and Dale made their home in Overland Park, KS, where she worked at Lee’s Secretarial Service and as the Executive Secretary for the Johnson County Medical Society until her retirement in 1988. Alliene enjoyed activities with family and friends. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Overland Park, KS, for many years. Alliene and Dale moved to Kansas City, MO, in 2009 and she was a member of First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City.
Alliene has joined husband, Dale; daughter, Sharon Petty; parents; three brothers; one sister; four sisters-in-law.
