Born in Hrvatska Kostajnica, Croatia (Austria). Her father Luke remarried after her mother died in childbirth of her sister. The new wife did not like her and forced her out of the house. She stayed with her Uncle Milivoj Matunovic inHrvatska Kostajnica for a time, but eventually moved to Pittsburgh's South Side. She met and married Joseph Francis Bozic. They were married and had two children. Virginia, who is entombed in the crypt with her and William (named for her brother) who is entombed nearby. Mary or Marie, as she liked to be called wanted to have a crypt just like she had seen for the wealthy family in her birthplace.
Her husband died at an early age so she raised her two children by herself and later in life helped watch her son's children. She was loved by all and a devote Roman Catholic who enjoyed cooking for the church (St. Bernard's in Mt Lebanon, Pa). Her nutrolls were a local favorite.
She became ill and was taken to Saint Clair Hospital where she died when a drunk doctor punctured her lungs and esphagus. Her son won a very small malpractice suit, but lost his health in the process.
