Specialist Four Larry Cecil Hathcock was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SP4 Hathcock served our country until September 21st, 1969 in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that Larry died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. Larry was born on December 17th, 1948 in Stanfield, North Carolina. SP4 Hathcock is on panel 18W, line 120 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

He is the Son of Mr Tyson Cecil Hathcock and Mrs Laura Irene Lambert Hathcock, Route 2, Stanfield NC. Brother to Mrs Carolyn Hathcock Foreman of Stanfield, The late: Jerry Eugene Hathcock and the late Roger Wayne Hathcock. He has three nephews, Terry Allen Foreman, Michael Todd Foreman, and Chad Larry Foreman; and one niece, Crystal Lynn Starnes.

It has been almost 43 years since Cecil passed away, I still think about him almost every day. What would he be doing now, would he still be as funny as he use to be, would he have married his girl friend, and how many children he would have. Our Christmas, Thanksgivings, and other family gatherings would have been a lot different. When Cecil and Wayne passed away that was the first time I had ever seen my dad cry. We had so much fun when we were growing up, all of us liked to pull pranks on each other.Cecil was a lot like my dad, he had the same humor, always had something going on, and loved to get something over on me. Carolyn Hathcock Freeman

He served with Alpha Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal, Two Purple Heart Medal(s)for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The Army Commendation Medal and The Army Achievement Medal.
