William "Buddy" Chisum, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at a De Kalb, Texas, care facility. He was 81.

Buddy was born August 5, 1935, in New Boston, Texas, to William Ernest and Clara Mable Ross Chisum. He was a retired Border Patrol Officer and Pilot, a member of the De Kalb Masonic Lodge #9, and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Simms, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest and Clara Mable Ross Chisum.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hatfield Chisum; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James A. Chisum of De Kalb, Texas, and William Boyd and Nena Chisum of Mesquite, Texas; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Muarl and Buck Lewis of De Kalb, Texas, Helen Tucker Reid of De Kalb, Texas, Lois Peek of Avery, Texas, and Brenda Doty of Eldorado, Illinois; four grandchildren, Brandi Rabozzi of Malta, Texas, Shandee Fulton of Denver City, Texas, Brock Chisum of Mesquite, Texas, and Katie Pigg of Denver City, Texas; five great grandchildren, Robert Liam Rabozzi, Hadden Chisum, Sage Chisum, Jacob Chisum, and Houston Pigg; and numerous other other relatives and friends.

Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas, with Rev. Steve Minter and Stan Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
