Fred was preceded in death by his father David G. Hughes (1959), his mother Annie Mae Jacobs (1961), his older brother Henry Harold Hughes (1974), younger brother Carl Thomas Hughes (1995), brother-law Charles Roland Henry (2012), “Sister” Margaret Louise “Aunt Tootsie” Hughes Henry (2013), and nephew Dennis Harold Hughes (2015) .
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann Hughes, Jane Stallings Hughes (mother of his sons), a younger sister, Carolyn Ann Hughes Jefferson, sons Bobby Lee Hughes and wife Andrea, Mark Wayne Hughes and wife Chanda, granddaughter Kaitlin Elane Hughes Nicholson and husband James, grandson Tyler Jason Hughes and his mother Kelly Hughes Furr, nieces Amy Hughes Stepp, Leza Henry Wallace, Cheryl Lee Hughes Morgan, and Page Jefferson, nephews Charles David Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Tim Jefferson.
A graveside service will be held Friday, March 3, 3017 at 11:00AM in Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont. Family will visit with friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations are made to Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Fairmont, NC.
