Matilda (Meece) Bray Phelps

Matilda E. Phelps, 74, of Murphy Avenue in Ferguson died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 21, at her residence.

Born in Pulaski County on January 27, 1904, she was the daughter of the former Frances Hargis and Pickney Meece, both deceased.

She married Earl Phelps who died in 1970.

In a previous marriage she wed Raymond Bray, who died in 1949.

Survivors include seven children, Glenn Bray, Indianapolis, Dewey Bray, Ferguson, Coy Bray, Louisville, Lowell Bray, Churchill, Tenn., Rothel Bray, Hampton, Ohio, Norman Bray and Mrs. Howard Jewell, both of Norwood, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

One son, Ervil Bray, was killed in Vietnam.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Ferguson Baptist Church.

Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 24, at the Ferguson Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Singleton officiating.

Burial was in Clay Hill Cemetery.

Somerset Undertaking Co. was in charge of arrangements.
