Private First Class Ray Douglas Ledford was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, PFC Ledford served our country until January 25th, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. It was reported that Ray died when his plane crashed. His body was recovered. PFC Ledford is on panel 04E, line 092 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

Survivors are his parents, Mr and Mrs Edgar W Ledford; 6 brothers, David Richard, William, Clay Allen, Dallas, George and Sammie Ledford; 5 sisters, Misses Alice, Carolyn, Rachel, Lillis and Linda Ledford; the paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Clyde Ledford. Services will be held at West Court Street Baptist Church, Tuesday, February 8, 1966 at 2pm. Officiating is the Reverend Bill Bryant. Burial will be at Big Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery. Services by McCall's Funeral Home.
He was the Son of Mr Edgar W Ledford and Mrs Maggie Jay Ledford, Route #5, Box 195, Marion, NC.
He served with Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (AMBL), USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
