Dorothy was born on August 25, 1926 in Springfield the daughter of Monroe and Mary Faye Baker Rhoades. She married John Compardo Jr. on November 14, 1945 in Springfield; he preceded her in death.
Dorothy attended Lanphier High School and Browns Business College. She worked for the State of Illinois for 25 years as a secretary. She enjoyed crafting, loved flowers, and her family. She was a member of Christ Church and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Compardo Sr.; one granddaughter, Kimberly Compardo; two sons-in-law, Chuck Hermes and Ken Bricker; and four siblings, Betty Sheehan, and Richard, Robert and Raymond Rhoades;
She is survived by seven children, Karen (Dale) Blankenship, Barbara Compardo, Becky Hermes, Ginger Bricker, Sam (Cheryl) Compardo, Tom Compardo and Jay Compardo; sixteen grandchildren, Bob Phelan, Michael Compardo, Danielle Hermes, Matt Hermes, Jessica Shull, Jennifer Foley, Rachael Reynolds, Jimmy Todd, Bryan Guthrie, Mark Hardin, Crystal Watts, Samantha Wiseman, April Mahoney, Stephanie Mahoney, Breana Blankenship and Tyler Blankenship; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Christ Episcopal Church with Reverend Greg Tournoux officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to dress in casual attire.
