Mrs. Amelia Larsen, wife of John Larson, 187 Mt. Airy St., passed away on April 9, and buried on April 13. Funeral services were held at the Church and at Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Larson was born April 16, 1860, at Hurdalen, Norway. At the age of 16 she emigrated with her parents. In 1883 she came to St. Paul and two years afterward she was married to John Larsen by the sainted Rev. W.M.H. Petersen.
Mr and Mrs. Larsen have been staunch members of our church and the departure of Mrs. Larsen removes from our ranks a tired and true disciple. In her relation to her family, and to her church, she was a noble example of humble, sincere devotion to duty and an earnest endeavor to serve the Lord in all things. She has left us, but the memory of the Christian life she lived among us will remain as a power of good.
Mrs. Larsen is survived by her husband and by four daughters and two sons: Mrs. Rev. J.W. Johnshoy of Mhd, MN, Mrs. Rev G. Hegg of Nome, ND, Mrs. Rev O.B. Tufte of Bricelyn, MN, Mrs. C.E. Ritter, and Arthur J. and Walter Larsen of St. Paul. Also 24 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the Central Ladies Aid of our church, of which the departed was a member almost from the beginning, a gave $10 to missions. A like sum was given to missions by the ladies Aid of So. Blue Earth Church, Rev. Thufte's charge, and $5 by the Ladies Aid of Nome, ND, Rev. Hegg's charge.
