Iva Louise Adair Abernethy, 91, of 417 Sixth Street NW, died Aug. 23, 1992 at Newton.
Born Sept. 3, 1900 in Clinton, S.C., she was a daughter of the late John Edmond and Margaret Stone Adair.
A member of Corinth Reformed United Church of Christ, she was a retired first-grade tea-cher from Kenworth School. She was active in the Ada Geitner Circle at her church, the Fortnightly Cub and the Do As You Please Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Shuford Abernethy; an infant son, John Adair Abernethy; three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Claude Shuford Abernethy of Conover; two granddaughters, Anne A. Wepner and Martha A. Sowers; a grandson, C. Shuford Abernethy III; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Gordon Sperry at 4 p.m. Tuesday at her church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will be at the residence from 6 to 8:30 tonight.
