Orpha Mutter Reid age 79, of Owens Cross Roads, formerly of Gurley, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born August 2, 1937 to Crockett and Uva Pearl Claypool Mutter in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. She married Jimmie Reid on December 27, 1957. The home that they own in Gurley has a historical marker known as Wildwood. Mrs. Reid did volunteer work with Harrison Brothers in Huntsville, the Gurley Public Library and Girl Scouts. She was also a long time member of Gurley Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Jimmie Reid of Owens Cross Roads, formerly of Gurley; children: Theresa Cornelius of Huntsville, David (Margaret) Reid of Fayetteville, NC and Herman (Lourdes) Reid of El Paso, TX; grandchildren: Jake Cornelius and Kyle Cornelius of Huntsville, Mariah Reid and Andrew Reid of Fayetteville, NC and Victoria Reid and Paul Reid of El Paso, TX.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Gurley Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 3:00 PM with Pastor Toy Brindley officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Reid, Herman Reid, Jake Cornelius, Kyle Cornelius, Andrew Reid and Paul Reid.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Gurley Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
