Cora Beatrice Garlington, who was born December 10, 1908 in Canyon City, Texas to Herbert and Lillian Vance, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2004.
She is preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe Garlington; brothers: Lee and Ray Vance; and sister, Nell Pittman. Beatrice is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee Shannon of Flower Mound, Texas; Roland Garlington, of Balch Springs, Texas; and Wesley Garlington of Palm Springs, California. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Beatrice was blessed through her faith in God with good health, a long and happy life and the love her family. She was courageous and strong in the face of adversity. She possessed great character and integrity. When God said "the least among us is greater than all," He was referring to Christians like her.
She loved and adored her animals and would be honored to have contributions made in her name to the Lewisville Chapter of the SPCA at 4720 E. Lake Highland, Lewisville, TX 75067.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Shiloh Bible Church at 6500 Cross Timbers Road, Flower Mound, Texas 75022. A luncheon will precede the service at 12:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
The family will receive friends 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Reverend Chuck Hittle will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Shiloh cemetery.
