Alma Sidney Creech Lassiter, age 104, of 907 Sedgewood Rd., Four Oaks died Tuesday, April 13, 2010.
She was born December 28, 1905 in Johnston County to the late Albert Sidney and Talitha Thompson Creech.
Mrs. Lassiter was the widow of Blake Lassiter who died in 1956. She was an active member of Pisgah Baptist Church. She was a kind, sweet and gentle person. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking and reading. She was a friend and role model to many. She was independent, living alone and looking after the family farm after her husband died.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Max Lassiter and wife, Laura of Danville, VA; five daughters, Shirley Huffman and husband, Stan of Burlington, Ruth Stewart and husband, Don of Mechanicsville, VA, Sylvia Woody and husband, Larry of Victoria, TX, Sue Wood of Selma, and Linda Waddell and husband, Bob of Clarkesville, GA. She had 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Also a granddaughter and great-grandson who predeceased her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 12:30 to 1:45 in the Fellowship Hall of Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 NC Highway 210, Smithfield, NC 27577. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 NC Highway 210, Smithfield, NC 27577.
