Russell was born in Sycamore on December 6, 1960 George and Sue (Wessels) Yunker. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1979. He began working in the area as a machine operator at AO Smith. He then turned to the family business and worked as a truck driver at his father's grain elevator, Five Points Grain. From there he moved on to work for various concrete contractors before venturing out to start his own company, Yunker Concrete and in winter, plowed snow for family, friends, and the community, making many friends. On December 1, 1995, he became a father to his beautiful daughter, Lindsey, who was his pride and joy and his friend.
Russell was a devoted son, brother, father and friend. As many know, he did his best to support independent restaurants in the area. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
Russell is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Yunker; his mother, Sue Yunker; sisters, Glenda (Chuck) Stowe and Jeannine (Matt) Harvell; nieces, Ashley (Benjamin) Doetch, Amanda (Nathanael) Meyer, Jenna Harvell and Georgia Harvell; nephew, Bailey Harvell; great-niece, Ginger Doetch and great-nephew, Everett Meyer.
Preceded in death by his father, George Yunker.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Quiram Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL with Pastor Paul Dehaven officiating.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
Burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
