She was born to Rodney Poyner Broughton and Eula Durnell Broughton.
First and foremost she loved the Lord and was strong in her faith. Her children Cheri and Denise were her pride and joy, which was known by all who knew her. She had many God given talents which included singing professionally and personally, playing the piano, painting,and writing poetry. Nothing pleased her more than cooking for family and friends,
She was a member of Days Chapel Baptist Church in Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William "Bill" Ward.
She is survived by her daughters, Denise Green and Cheri Ziegler; a sister, Daphne Piper and other extended family.
