A native of Old Fort, NC, he was a son of the late Verdin Mack Carswell and Dora Nichols Carswell. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth H. Carswell and one brother, James E. Carswell.
Billy was a WWII Veteran, having served his country in the US Army. He was a longtime and faithful member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter and was proud to have gone on several mission trips through the church. He was also a member of the American Legion.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Beverly Hills Baptist Church and interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday at the church.
