Charles Jarvis Chapman died on January 13 of natural causes. He was 92.
Mr. Chapman was born in Brookline, Mass. and attended Hebron Academy and Dartmouth College where he graduated from in 1933 with a degree in engineering. Following college, he began a distinguished career with the Union Carbide Corporation and retired in 1969 as vice-president of marketing for the Mining and Metals Division. Subsequently, Mr. Chapman founded Chapman Motors of Westport.
He is survived by Dorothy Elizabeth Chapman, his beloved wife of 34 years; six sons, William P. Hunt, Jr., of Hamilton, N.J., Craig P. Hunt, of New Canaan, Charles Joseph Chapman of Wellesley, Mass., Quentine A. Hunt of New York City, Lawrence W. Chapman of Norwalk, and Charles Jarvis Chapman IV of Stuart,
Fla; three daughters, Sarah Chapman Elliot of Costa Mesa, Calif., Kathleen Yates of Redding, and Marguerite Elizabeth Ellinger of Sans Point, Long Island; a brother, Lawrence Chapman of Portland, Me.; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and three nieces also survive.
