John Mason Lawrence - Enl. 7-28-64 for the war by John S. Mosby at Upperville. Inv. in 8-20-64 attack on the "House Burners" at Col. Benjamin Morgan's in Clarke Co. Present on July - Aug. 1864 muster roll. Appears on 4th qtr., 1864 clothing receipt roll. Par. 4-22-65 at Winchester. Age 19, 5'- 8", fair complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes. Res. Amissville, Rappahannock Co. B. 1-3-1845. M. 1872 to Sarah Catherine Priest, sister of Ranger George Harvey Priest. Had eight children. Farmer and stockman operating three farms in Rappahannock and Culpeper Co's. Attended 1895 reunion of the 43rd Va. Cav. in Marshall, 1920 reunion in Culpeper and 1925 reunion in Front Royal. Lived in the 1930's in Waterloo, Fauquier Co. D. 10-17-1939. Bur. Methodist Church Cem., Amissville, Rappahannock Co.
